The BMW K 1600 GTL is the Motorcycle of the Year 2012 named by Rider. “More than 30 new motorcycle models were introduced in the U.S. for 2012, but any way you look at it, this is the year of the K1600,” write the editors of Rider. This award was presented in a visit to the Bimmer headquarters by Rider’s Road test Editor Greg Drevenstedt and Eastern Sales Manager joe Salluzzo to Hans Blesse, BMW Motorrad USA Vice President.
A lot of reasons cumulate to win this motorcycle the title and here are some of them. The K 1600 GTL is the world’s lightest and most compact six-cylinder engine on a production motorcycle, the controller on the left hand grip which allows operating the systems of the motorcycle and adjusting the settings without taking your hands off the bars and the bike’s Xenon adaptive headlight. Now this headlight is unique, its innovative electronics compensate automatically for the lean angle around the corners and ensure the light is always directed at the road.
Blesse said: “It is a tremendous honor to continue to earn widespread recognition from these well-respected journalists. Their positive response coupled with the feedback we’ve had from our customers reaffirms BMW’s commitment to continually raising the bar for performance, safety, technology and value in this competitive market segment.” The BMW K1600GTL and K1600GT have earned awards from motorcycle journalists worldwide since their international debut last year. And so BMW continues offering the world’s most advanced technology available on two wheels and gaining the finest awards and the golden reputation in return.
