Europe’s tallest building to be funded by Qatar

Shard tower

And so the battle goes on. The debate over the title of London’s tallest building goes on and this time it’s Shard that holds the title. Located in Central London, it is also declared to be Europe’s tallest skyscraper! In celebration of external completion of 310 meters tall, The Shard, 12 lasers and 30 searchlights lit up the night sky, it was a true sparkling gala. Live music from the London Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied the show. A ceremony also took place and was attended by Qatar’s prime minister and the Duke of York. The latest skyscraper was funded by the Qatar Central Bank and Shard Funding Ltd, took about $2.3 billion and 12 years to complete.
A number of companies will fill the 26 vacant floors pretty soon, as developers are already in talks with them. Next week will be the formal completion date for the building and there will be ten luxury residences, three floors of restaurants, office space and five-star hotel in addition to a viewing platform on the 69th floor for the public, which will be opened on February next year.
