With a voice that is often described as smooth, smoky and sultry, Melody Gardot seems to hum words and bend roll notes in a melodic voice which is amazingly charming whether it is whispering or loudly singing.
The Philadelphia native’s remarkable story of the Grammy-nominated jazz singer has been repeated in every article and interview appearance she’s ever made. At the age of 19 the bike she was riding was hit by a car and she suffered severe head and spinal injuries and a broken pelvis. Among her long-term problems are memory loss, hypersensitivity to light and loss of her sense of time. A piano player in bars prior to her accident, her doctor suggested music as therapy. She was bedridden for about year and taught herself guitar while lying on her back. She could no longer tolerate the louder music she played prior to her accident so she started writing quiet, traditional jazz songs.

Her stunning sophisticated bohemian look that is constantly changing adds to her mystique. She’s forced to walk with a cane and must wear sunglasses all the time. In many photo shoots and videos, these items serve as props.
Piaget couldn’t but to notice the phenomenal elegance in song, spirit and appearance of Gradot and thus made her the newest ambassador. Piaget Rose Collection- a line of diamond jewelry inspired by the shape of a rose is what Gardot promoting. Prices vary and start from $1,900 to hundred thousands of dollars priced pieces that feature diamonds and precious stones. Piaget has coincided the 30th anniversary celebration of the Piaget Rose with Melody Gardot’s latest release of the Edith Piaf Classic- “La Vie en Rose”. It’s a great occasion to time her appointment as the ambassador as her new album is topping the charts in Europe and she’s currently embarking on a world tour, dressed in Piaget jewels.

"’La Vie en Rose’ represents a lot of things for me, but mostly it represents my feelings towards my guitar. What it has brought into my life and how things have changed. ‘La Vie en Rose’ is like food for my musical garden,” said Ms Gardot.
“For me, ‘La Vie en Rose’ like music, has allowed me to reinvent myself, and even to change into somebody else completely. Waking up in the morning knowing you can’t move or speak, as was the case after my accident, can be difficult and painful. But your imagination feeds on everything that will happen in the future. We all need a new lease on life from time to time!"
