For the third consecutive year, Coach JuppHeynckes and his team of international stars including, Mario Gomez, Bastian Schweinsteiger, ArjenRobben and Frank Ribery, have taken advantage of the German league’s winter break by coming to Qatar for warm weather training.

This is the third year we have been here and it is an ideal venue for the team to come together and to hopefully prepare us for winning the German league and also the UEFA Champions League.”

Bayern has arranged a couple of serious matches – one against domestic rivals, FC Schalke 04, and another against local team Lekhwiya SC, which are currently second in the Qatari league.
The Volkswagen Group has been closely involved with international top-class football for many years and as part of their support to Bayern will ensure that the players, trainers and assistants have access to a fleet of VolkswageTouareg. In addition, Christian Klingler, Member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG, and SheikhaHanadi Bint Nasser Al Thani, Chairperson of Q Auto, visited the team at the training pitch to watch their preparations for the game against Lekhwiya SC.

Bayern’s training camp is being held at Qatar’s Aspire Academy, the globally recognised national sports academy, which provides integrated sports development, sports science and academic learning.
Qatar is also the venue for the FIFA 2022 World Cup, the first time it will be held in the Middle East.
