McLaren Automotive continues to make headlines as the McLaren P1 prototype gears up to make its Middle East debut in Bahrain this week. Private viewings of the ultimate supercar concept that takes much of its design and engineering inspiration and integrity directly from Formula 1 will be held for prospective customers, ahead of a VIP invite-only unveil event on 31st January. This is the prototype car that took the recent Paris Motor Show by storm and is likely to have the same impact in Bahrain and in the UAE, when it moves on to Dubai in February.
The exclusive launch event is being hosted by McLaren Automotive in conjunction with Mumtalakat, McLaren’s principal shareholder, and Al Ghassan Motors, McLaren Automotive’s retail partner for the Kingdoms of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
McLaren Automotive’s Regional Director for the Middle East & Africa, Mark Harrison commented: “It is very exciting to be debuting this breathtaking prototype, the McLaren P1, in Bahrain. It is through the long-term support and vision of our shareholders that we, McLaren, can develop such extraordinary cars that then give our retail partners and customers confidence that McLaren is absolutely focused on our aim to be the iconic sports car brand of the future. The ultimate goal for this car is to build it in very limited numbers and raise the supercar performance bar…..just as we did 20 years ago with the McLaren F1, which remains as the world’s fastest ever naturally aspirated road car. Our aim for the McLaren P1TM is to be the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made.”
Benefiting from the input of the company’s highly successful motor racing division, which has provided both technological and spiritual inspiration, the hugely anticipated McLaren P1 has been designed as the next generation ultimate supercar – the culmination of 50 years of racing and automotive experience. The Volcano Orange prototype McLaren P1 is a one-off design study that is causing a stir amongst supercar owners on a world tour that now heads to the Middle East. Simultaneously, development continues on the McLaren P1 at a number of test tracks and proving grounds around the world as McLaren and its partners grow their reputations in the global sports car business through the recent launch of the award-winning McLaren 12C Spider.
