The New York jewelry brand Harry Winston has unveiled the new collections for 2012 which included the limited edition watch, Opus 12. The watch, limited to only 120 pieces, has been built to defy the norms of watchmaking. Opus 12 was a shiny star at the latest BaselWorld Watch and Jewelry Show in Switzerland due to its amazing mechanism that managed impress watch lovers worldwide. What is amazing about this watch is how it moves clockwise in such an exquisite animated setting; made of white gold in a 46mm case featuring hours and half hours slots and central dial showing the minutes. Around the dial, 24 separate hands are positioned with a set of two hands showing the minutes for the long hands and the hours for the small ones. Every 60 minutes, the hour hand will rotate on itself to reveal a blue face and when the 60 minutes are over, it rotates once again and shows a grey face. Same thing happens every 5 minutes concerning the minutes hand. We couldn’t but to notice some features like the crystal anti-reflective sapphire, a power reserve of 45 hours, a manual winding movement of 607 parts and 2 barrels and water resistance up to 30 meters. All in all, the Harry Winston Opus 12 is priced at $260,000

Dolce & Gabbana amaze us again with the recently unveiled Gold Edition sunglasses. This time, they took a peak at the past and drew inspiration for their new line of sunglasses instead of looking towards the future. The exclusive line of Gold Edition eyewear consisting of sunglasses and eyeglasses plated in 18 carat gold will be both limited editions. All the pieces are fitted with polarized lenses, come with certificate of authenticity, and the D&G logo engraved on the temple, which shows a combination of classic style with a bit of modern style as well. The Pure Gold glasses are among the collection and they are available in white and yellow gold. Sophia Gold, the other model in the collection, is also available in white and yellow gold and comes with lightweight and wide front. Priced at $580 per pair, the D&G Gold Edition eyewear models come with a black leather case as well as a luxurious jewelry case, which has a D&G Gold Edition plaque and two tiny drawers to hold the cleaning cloth. All the Dolce & Gabbana Gold Edition glasses will be available in their stores worldwide from June 2012.

The masterpiece by the Indian artist Bagta has broken the records at Indian Himalayan & Southeast Asian Art auction held by Bonhams. This amazing artwork has stunned everyone when it passed six times its highest pre-sale price estimation ($30,000 – 50,000) as it fetched a decent $302,500 when the hammer went down for the third time. This is not the first time an Indian masterpiece breaks the records at an auction, but this one was extraordinary. The artist’s artwork which portrait the imposing figure of Rawat Gokal Das celebrating ‘holi’ with his consorts was consigned by a collector who bought the piece two decades ago for mere $125. Dated 1808 and measuring 16 x 22 inches this work is a rare representation of Bagta’s larger scale depiction.
This masterpiece is one of the very rare representations of the artist’s large scale inventions. Bagta is currently on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York ‘Wonder of the Age, Master Painters of India, 1100-1900 as it was featured in the landmark exhibition which opened at the Museum Rietberg, Zurich, earlier on.

A 1955 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing in a wooden setup!!! Now that’s a first and that is the result of the hard work of the German craftsman in Duisberg, Germany. This incredibly hand-carved teak replica setup is finished with all what a real sedan hides in the interiors starting from the widely detailed dash, real doors and ending up with matching wooden luggage. However, if you really wanted it to attract some attention in the neighborhood, then you will need to show a little bit of personal labor pushing it on its, as eBay claims, “rollable wheels” .
If you get inside and check the interior, you would notice that the seats of this Mercedes-Benz are real. So, you can at least sit inside, imagine yourself driving this classical baby and live the moment. The sad news is that this model has already been sold out on eBay for $8,000. Anyway, you can always wait to experience the woody goodness of the next vintage model to be built up by the same artists.

The House of Cartier welcomes a new addition to its global flagship stores line up, choosing the Emirates capital Abu Dhabi, Avenue at Etihad Towers, located on the Corniche road, as its latest prestigious location. A historical exhibition “Tiaras & Royalties” will open its doors on the same day commemorating 165 years of Cartier’s history since it established its name as the most prestigious jeweler in the world, becoming supplier to many Royal Courts around the world. The exhibition will be taking place from the 22^nd of May to the 15^th of June, 2012, at the Cartier Boutique, Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Towers.

This insightful retrospective allows visitors to discover some of the House’s unique and fine treasures of the past, with selected tiaras and necklaces brought specifically for this occasion, from the Cartier Collection. Four timeless tiaras dated back to the years 1908, 1911 and 1920 and four state of the art necklaces from the years 1906, 1907 and 1919 will be unveiled in an outstanding setting at the new boutique.

The Cartier Collection, founded in 1973, remains a non-commercial historical collection travelling the continents showing its treasures to the world, a collection that never been exhibited in a permanent place or to be a museum, but rather a travelling art exhibition representing the House’s  exceptional artistic and cultural heritage. Since 2011, the exceptional universe of Elie Saab has his olfactory signature. ELIE SAAB Le Parfum, in total harmony with the luxurious codes of the Couturier translates into a fragrance the dual nature that is so dear to the designer: “the light of the Middle East and the modernity of the West”.

“I come from a Mediterranean city bathed in heat and light, surrounded by vibrant nature loaded with fragrance”, says Elie Saab, adding “one scent stays firmly in my mind, that of orange blossom. From this specific olfactory memory recounted by the couturier, Francis Kurkdjian has created a new eau de toilette that enriches the olfactory signature introduced by Elie Saab with the eau de parfum.

Like a couture dress fashioned in precious chiffon, the perfumer sketches out a new, more crystalline, almost evanescent orange blossom, mingled with a soft, subtle rose honey note, all combined to create an olfactive addiction similar to the eau de parfum.

When distilled into the new olfactory offering, the freshness of the mandarin tree blossom, the round sensuality of the gardenia and the sparkling vibrancy of vetiver act like sequins thoughtfully stitched onto a couture gown, and with each movement, give the fragrance a new rhythm that is punctuated by impertinence and spontaneity.

For ELIE SAAB Le Parfum, the couturier wanted a bottle crafted in the style of sculpted crystal. And now the slender figure of the new eau de toilette puts even greater emphasis on the tricks of the light that the couturier loves so much.
